It depends on who you’re creating content for and how that content will be used:

Personal Plan

Best for individual creators making content for their own channels.

  • Good for:
    • Web streaming on your personal YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, etc.
    • YouTube monetization on your own account
    • Personal video or school projects

  • Not for:
    • Promoting a product, service, or brand
    • Videos created for a business or a client’s business
    • Digital ads, TV, radio, VOD (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime)
    • Games, apps, or theatrical release

Tip: A Personal License does not include sponsored media, “work for hire,” or allow others to use your work.

Commercial Plan

Best for small businesses and freelancers making content for themselves or clients.

  • Good for:
    • Small-business media (under 50 employees)
    • Freelancers creating media for small-business clients
    • Web streaming on social channels
    • YouTube monetization
    • Wedding/event videos
    • Digital ads (pre-roll, post-roll, Facebook, Instagram)

  • Not for:
    • TV, radio, or VOD (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime)
    • Games, apps, or theatrical release

Tip: A Commercial Web License does not cover teams, online games, apps, VOD, or media created for enterprise clients (over 50 employees). If you need those rights, select “Over 50 Employees” or “Expanded Rights” to speak with a representative.

In short:

  • Personal Plan = your own, non-sponsored, non-business content.

  • Commercial Plan = small business or freelance content for yourself or your clients.

  • Over 50 Employees / Expanded Rights = enterprise clients, broadcast, VOD, games, or theatrical.
